"If you do not think photos are important, wait until they are all you have left!"
This is my favorite quote. I had a trip to Binh Phuoc 4 years ago and met a local lady when she was 86 years old. We had a small conversation which I really enjoyed. She told me about one of her sons who lived far away and that she missed him. She asked me to take a photo of her to send to her son. After adjusting her shirt neatly, she nervously asked me how to pose because she had never taken a portrait before. I remember telling her, "Just think about your son. How would you like to see him? What would you say to him?" Then this photo came up.
Recently, I received the news that she passed away. I sent this portrait to her funeral as a tribute to a lovely grandmother. I spent that day thinking about her, and it reminded me of how fast time has gone by. No one likes bad news, but being prepared is always better!
